I just bought a '64 2010 Gas, my first Deere tractor.

I couldn't get the covers off of the remote hydraulics. After much grease and dirt removal I could work the little arms to the left of the outlets free and managed to remove the covers.

For the life of me I can't get the covers back in! I am certain that there is no pressure on but I cannot get the covers back in all the way.

Is there a trick to this that is not apparent?

The levers pivot 90' AND slide forward and back. The levers when horizontal and FULLY to the rear in their slot will release the cap. When installing the cap, the levers must be pushed toward the front of the tractor with the lever horizontal while putting a little pressure on the cap. Turning the lever vertical opens the valve. They are a great idea that didn't quite work ideally.

Thanks! I didn't even notice the slot where the lever could slide into with all the grime. I cleaned it up and it works like a champ. It is a good idea once you know about it! It is strange that the operator's manual doesn't mention it....
Thanks again!

The insides of the couplers, the female part, move in and out some, when in they hold the male part tightly, when out they release. They may have pushed back in and are not allowing the plugs to go back in. You should be able to push them out by reaching around back and pushing them out. Sounds like they need to be cleaned up a bit.

Thanks for your reply.

I have cleaned the couplers out real well but the insides of the couplers, the various rings and the little balls for the collar, don't have much give to them...none of them seem to be pushed up against one another. This should be so simple and straightforward but for some reason it's not!....
