I have a '52 JD B that is missing the serial number tag. I would like to get a replacement tag to use when the tractor is restored, I would prefer to get a blank tag w/o a serial number. Does anyone know where I can get one from? Does Deere and Co. make replacement tags? Thanks.

I vote with Norman. No tag is better than a wrong tag. Do a nice job on the tractor and enjoy it. If you know the year model you can get parts for it. Thats what we mostly use tags for anyway.

Wonder why your tractor is missing the tag? Fell off? Subject bothers me a little.

why can't you locate a hulk, same model year and retrieve the tag...aslong as the tractor has same features, I can't see that it would matter. You can carefully remove the tag, use a set of end snip pliers and pull the pins...reinstall in the good tractor and you have a good tag.....

Some people have no problem with switching Sr.# plates. If you are restoreing a tractor it needs the original plate on it. If you did switch one I would like to see documentation go with the tractor to that effect. I couldn't switch one. Just my two bits worth.

So far, I've run into a brick wall on getting a replacement s/n tag for my '53 JD50. From other responses on this forum, it sounds like Deere produces new ones but they have bar codes on them and look very little like the originals. My dad suggested checking local sign shops to see what they can make but you'll need an old tag so they can use it as a pattern. My tag's not in terrible shape, but it would look neat to have a new one to go along with the new paint. Good luck in your quest.
