JD B that fouls plugs

I have a JD B that has had *everything* done to repair
a problem. It fouls plugs on a continual basis. Also, it misses (or dies) when you engage the clutch. The
distributer is like new, points, plugs, wires, etc have
all been replaced. The timing and gaps are perfect. The valves and head were checked thoroughly, and the motor was re-ringed and burned in on a dyno. The
carb was rebuilt recently, and seems to operate right.
A little choke helps, but doesn't solve the problem.
Anyone have any ideas of what I might have overlooked?

Had the same problem. I thought I had the right plugs in it .... but according to the book they were too cold. It would run OK in the afternoon when the temperature outside was warm enough. But, in the morning it would just up and die anytime. Took along time to figure it out. If you still had the shutters you could warm her up a little. I put hotter plugs in ... the ones that it was meant to have .... ran great. Some people hate Champion spark plugs also. I am not so sure about that. Good luck.

What loads or jobs does this "B" perform? How many turns out are the carb screws? What is the coolant temperature?

Jeff, had a friends B doing the same thing, threw his AC plugs away and put in Autolite's and you couldn't get it to miss.
Just a thought worth trying, as you didn't say what kind of plugs are in it.
Good luck, Bob

I had similar problem part of which was my carb. However I was using Autolite 366 and were not hot enough. Changed to 388's and that cured the problem. Drew s/w WI.

Are the plugs fouled with oil or excess fuel, sounds like the carb is way to rich
