I'm considering a 1970 JD 4000 for purchase. My local Deere Dealer wasn't able to help me determine some factory specs and would fully appreciate some help from any of you folks. Could you please tell me tractor weight (with WF), HP, Hydraulic GPM, and 3 pt hitch lift capacity?

If I supply you with a little info about the unit, please give me a ballpark figure or range regarding fair market value.

1970 JD 4000, 7200 original hours, diesel, WF, fenders, 18.4 x 34 rear rubber (50-70%), hoods and paint fair-good.

Thank you sincerely!

John Deere rated the lift at 3750 pounds. The Same as a 4020. The 3020 is rated at 3050 pounds. I think the rear end is something in-between a 3020 and a 4020.I would estimate the price at 8000 dollars. Drive it you'll like it.

ball park figure. around 8500. the tractor weighs around 7400 lbs. deere built this tractor as a power to rate type of tractor. it has the same motor as a 4020 but the rear end of a 3020. the 4000's did not last long with a turbo added. i think the gpm is around 16 or 17 at 2100 psi. everything else is identicle to a 4020 except the rearend battery boxes sheet metal around hyds. and thats it i think. the tractor is 93 hp and the 3pt will lift around 3400lbs but not sure.

also, they didn't have powershift trannies, dual headlights or diffrential lock (my only bitch). My advise; "buy it you'll like it"

If you find a 4000 with power shift you have a somewhat rare tractor

1979 John Deere 4000 diesel did indeed come with an axle lock. I used one for many years.Has about 90 PTO HP. With right tires will easily pull a 4 bottom plow.

I meant 1970 John Deere 4000, not '79
