Is there anywhere in the world to find a magneta for a 1937 JD Model A? I have searched the web until I am blind. If you know where I can locate this part in Ky. or on line please email me.

Mart, there were 2 types used for 37. Are you looking for a Fairbanks-Morse DRV2B or an Edison-Splitdorf Type CD? If you don't know which one is correct give me your S/N & I will post the correct one for that S/N. Or are you just looking for a megneto that will work like a Wico C or X with long lugs?

S/N 458715

Not sure which one S/N above. Maybe Wilco-X. Can't find one anywhere. Do you know of any place that sells them and cost?

Mart, the "correct" mag for that S/N is a Fairbanks-Morse DRV2B. They are very hard to find & expensive & don't work that good. An acceptable replacement would be the Wico C or X. The X would work the best as it seems to be the most reliable & produce the best spark but the C looks a little more like the original mag. About any Wico X or C will work as long as it has "Long Lugs" & they are interchangeable. I haven't bought a mag in a long time & when I do it is usually from a tractor or equipment show as the price is lower & I really enjoy the bartering process involved (that is half the fun of collecting tractors). Magneeders Link has quality Wico's for sale & I am sure many others do also. Just make sure the mag you get has long lugs or you can buy & install them on a short lug mag.
