I've broken a piece off of the clutch sleeve, the lip behind where the clutch fork rides. I'm thinking about welding the piece back on, its cast. Should I just order a new piece and press off the gear and put on a new one? I'm not sure if I can even get one from John Deere.

Thanks

Steve, welding that piece on is risky business. If it should ever decide to come loose it will probably end up in the reduction gears & that will definitely ruin your day! You should be able to find a good used one as there are plenty around.

Steve: If you can't get one from you dealer, go to yahoo.com (or other search engine) and search for tractor salvage. You will find more tractor salvage yards than you can imagine.
