Pulled my clutch pulley of this afternoon. Inner race (on crank) is worn about .020 so Im gonna polish it up and install a new bearing and see how it works. My question is how do you remove the old bearings outer race in the pulley? Its kinda hard to tell where the race ends and the pulley begins. There seems to be a shield over the bearings outer race that I assume comes out when the bearing is removed.I`m tempted to drive it out from the rear with a punch but I figure I`d ask someone with some experience first. Thankyou, John Henry
PS. the old bearing was so bad all the rollers were sideways in the race and hourglass shaped.I think I`m lucky to only have .020 wear on the shaft.

What are the crankshaft measurements where the clutch pulley bushing and the bearing ride? I was told that the bushing ID is 1.186 and the crank journal was supposed to be 1.182. I still don't know what the journal is suppose to measure where the bearing rides.

Give you bearing dealer this bearing number and as him to give you the ID spec. That should be the inner race diameter. Bower # M 5207 E The bushing ID is about 2.220. Hard to measure cuz of some wear on my tractor.

take a brass rod and drive the bearing out from the rear. The hood or cover will come off as you drive the bearing out. It is a somewhat loose fit and should come right out. Use some hi temp grease and pack well. The crankshaft is the inner race and wear generaly takes place. The reason is no one generally performs maintence on the pulley like they should.
