When servicing the Hyd on a JD301A, is it filled via the cap behind the seat? Is the transaxle serviced separately or does the hyd fluid lube that as well? I found a dipstick on RH side for transaxle, looks like 90 weight oil, but could be Hyd fluid. Any help would be appreciated for this new JD owner. THANKS.

If the 301A is similar to my 302A then you will fill from cap behind seat.

I use (NAPA Premium heavy duty tractor hydraulic & transmission fluid.)

Please note I said if your machine is same as the 302A

I to am new to this sight, the people here are a wealth of knowledge so I am sure you will get a more informed answer soon.

90 wt trans oil is a death toll for brake pads on JD tractors designed for JD Hy-gard such as a JD301A
