Could you buy a 4630 in 1972? Serial numbers state 1973 as first year, tractor was tested in 1972. Also a friend says he bought his in 1972 and have several books that state that it was introduced in 1972. Can anybody help us out. Classic tractor pulls in our area are for years 1960 to 1972. This is why we need to kno

Jeff, the 30 series tractors were introduced in August of 1972 as '73 models. There were never any '72 models of the 30 series, regardless of what these books say. They might have been built in calendar year '72, but they were '73's. Another instance of calendar year and model year confusion. This happens in the older tractors, too. Hope this helps. Mike
