Fourth and sixth gear are sounding clanky under lightload. I`m figuring its time for bearings on that shaft maybe. Any words of wisdom as I have never been inside a two cylinder tractor tranny? John Henry

just completed working on a 530 transmission. You probably don't want to hear this, but I would recommend that you get someone to assit you that has renewed these. Will save you tons of time and probably money.

Youre rite. I didnt want to hear that. Gonna study this for a while. A long while. Looks simple in the parts book though. I have a service manual on the way not that thats going to fix it for me either. I`m betting thats its the two roller bearings in the 4-6 gear cluster on the idler shaft. Later this week I`ll talk to my dealer and get his perspective and see whats available for parts. Thanks Chuck

the dealer has all the bearings, no other parts, you'll need to get a good parts tractor locally. A 520 is the same transmission. Probably your gears have been classed on the 4/6. The main thing is alignment of shifter, clearance on the lower shaft. It's a pretty good job to rebuild those, you'll have to pull the reduction gear cover, probably flywheel.
