i have a 46 B and when it is ideling, i dont run
to smooth. when it is at 1/2 to full, it runs
fine. i tried to adjust the carb and time it?
i also have a nother question, when im crankin the
starter, every day for the first time, as soon as
the enginee hits, the engine pops really loud. it
shoots out a big ball of fire. not that its
hurting anything, but i would rather it not do that.

Joey, it sounds like the very common problem of clogged idle circuit passages in the carb or vacuum leaks (causes her to lean out) possibly past the throttle shaft bushings, either of which can cause poor idling (when vacuume is at max) but then runs better on the carbs load circuit. Many of us have below posted long answers on how to clean those tricky idle passages (clooney even has posted pictures) under those brass drill plugs (using long 40 and 53 drill bits u can get from Roberts) so if you cant adjust the idle needle to help it, you may have to have the carb rebuilt. The loud explosion may be excess fuel filling the cylinder due to a leaky needle valve/seat also a carb problem if the timing is okay. Good Luck Ol John T in Indiana

Id say if its blowing out fire either your distributor cap is maybe cracked or its alittle bit out of time
