I missed that question yesterday but had some thoughts someone may want to hear. The old trick of creating an extra spark gap usually between the spark plug terminal and wire has been used for years, and although it can work, its a band aid approach to a more serious problem. USUALLY the problem is the plugs are oil residue fouled (tractor needs new rings) and when the coils secondary voltage starts to ramp up to arc the plugs gap, the coils energy is dissipated by leakage current flow through the oil on the plug and the voltage doenst raise and ever jump the gap to ignite the fuel. The extra gap doesnt allow that leakage current flow so the voltage does rise high enough to sudenly arc the gap and she fires. So, if the tractor quickly fouls new plugs and that added gap is necessary, its probably time for an overhaul but hey, if it works and gets you by great. A mag (as compared to a battery coil ignition) barely has enough energy anyway, so this trick may not work as well on them. I thought the Champion plugs that had the added internal gap had UD in front of the regular plug numbers???? Good Luck Ol John T in Indiana
