I posted a few messages about my recent rebuild of my 1020 diesel. I first had quite a bit of smoke when I initially fired it up. Then, I broke the mounting flange on the injector pump when trying to put it back on to time it.

Well - ALL IS WELL. Tonight, I finally remounted the injection pump. I was able to get the bottom mounting flange off and had it welded at work (cast aluminum). I timed the pump to the engine (top dead center).

SHE RUNS LIKE A KITTEN!!!!! After bleading the injection lines and conencting them to the injectors, she took off and barely smoked.

My diesel mechanic didn't correctly time the pump to the engine (I've heard that it's easy to incorrectly time the pump 180 degrees out of the engine TDC).

Anyway, thanks to all for the various support. I finally feel like she's new again. I only wish my wife's late uncle were here to see her run as it did when he bought it new.
