Can anyone give me advice as to how (or direct me to a manual or person who could tell me how) to gear down a John Deere 4240S?

We bought it for the front wheel mechanical assist--which would be great for harvest, if only first gear was a little slower.

Thanks!!!

A4240s is the same as a 4250 american. There is no easy way to gear this tractor down. They do not offer a creeper trans. with MFWD. Plus this would be extremely expensive if parts were available. You do have two options, if the tractor is on 20.8 and 16.9 tires you can go down to a smaller tire size on all four wheels.(also expensive). If you are running out of power and ground speed is not a consideration have the fuel set up, I have the same tractor and it dynos 190 HP just make sure you watch the water temp. on a hot day and keep the radiator clean. This is assuming the tractor is in good mechanical shape. Have someone that knows what they are doing set the fuel up preferably with a dyno.
