I posted on the implement board but thought I would ask here too if anyone had information on these old planters. I bought one that looks like it is all there but I need to replace the wood and need some idea of lengths for the marker beam etc. Also wonder what color it is supposed to be. Any picture or lead on a book would be helpful. I have never seen how the wire part would work or if this was part of these machines. All I need to do then is get Dad's horses to walk straight....
Thanks for your help.

I've been told that these planters were originally painted a dull red color. I have a set of the cast lids from one, and there is a hint of red paint on the underside of the lid. The lids that I have pivot off of the box, and it would be hard to inspect the underside without either removing the lids from the planter, or lying on your back and looking upward to the underside of the opened lid. I hope this helps you. Good luck with the horses - I know nothing about them. . .
