I have a 1941 model B that has an engine that froze up within the last 2 months. Anyone know how to get these unstuck without a tear down?

Thanks everyone for your suggestions..... .I'll certainly give them a try.
I did take out the plugs and spray Mystery Oil in both cyl. I was going to try more spraying. I also tried rocking it but didn't get too aggressive. I'll think about a teardown next time I rock it and will probably be much more aggressive with it.
Thanks again!

I like to put a log chain thru the flywheel holes (when you have them) and hook it off short. I slip a steel bar thru the chain next to the flywheel and use the weight of the bar to bump the flywheel in either direction. (You need to make sure that the problem is not a stuck valve first however or you may break the rocker arm)

Jerry, don't get too aggressive with the rocking, you take a chance of hurting the trans. The best way to break one of those stuck 2 cylinder tractors loose is by either bolting a big bar across the flywheel or turning the flywheel by some other means such a jack etc. as you get direct force into the crankshaft without going through the gear box or trans.. It takes a lot less force if it is applied at the flywheel.

I agree with everyone above, if all else fails and you need a complete tear down-- try a little "CLR". I havn't tried it yet but I will be in a little while on a badly set up 4 cyl. LeRoi engine. Happy Holidays.

Hi Jerry. Make sure that it doesn't have a cylinder full of gas first. An engine stuck that recently shouldn,t be too tight. If it is indeed stuck, you should, with a little leverage, be able to break it loose. I would remove the spark plugs, and put a little oil in the cylinders for sleeve lubrication when you move it. I'm sure others will have more good ideas also. Hope this helps. Don

Jerry, get the spark plugs out, and get some oil or penetrant in the cylinders asap. If is just a mild stuck, try jacking up a rear wheel and rock it back and forth in gear, clutch engaged. Shouldn't have too much rust formed in only a couple months,(maybe). John in Ne.

In conjuction with letting the cylinders soak in penetrating oil, try circulating hot and then near boiling water thru the cooling system. The natural expansion of the cyl walls could loosen her up and at least speed up the action of the penetrating oil.

A buddy of mine was successful doing this on a IHC H that was stuck for about a year. Good luck and let us know how it turns out. Don

Spray some PB Blaster and don;t be stingy with it into the cylinders and let soak. Wait a day or two and repeat, let soak again, then try rocking the motor . Be patient it will break free I;ve never had one beat me yet.

Thanks for your comments. I haven't heard of PB Blaster. I'll look for it at the Farm & Fleet here. Where do you buy it?
