First question, where's the best place to get points and condenser for this tractor, it has a Wico XH-1042 mag? Also is there anyway to test a condenser, this tractor has been in pieces for about 5 years, I'm not getting any fire? One more question, I got a new 3 way valve from JD and the seating surfaces are different from the original. They don't know what to do either.

Thanks

Steve, the points & condenser can be bought at Deere, Roberts Carb Repair or some auto parts stores. The condenser can be tested by most electronics stores with a multi-meter with a capacitor tester or some auto parts stores but the value will have to be known to be certain it is within specs (if you decide to have it tested E-Mail me & I will look the value up for you) It can be tested for a short with an ohm meter but that doesn't tell you much. The easiest thing to do is just replace it. What is different about the 3-way valve, be specific?

On the fuel valve difference. The new valve I got from JD has different seats for the fuel lines. The the old valve has the typical nut and ferrel, the newer valve is more flat where the ferrel would normally seat and is not as deep. The old lines will not even go in far enough for the nut to start. I talked with the JD mechanics at the local dealer and they said they have never seen anything like it before. I'm currently attempting to use the new plug in the old valve body so my lines will work.

Thanks again

Steve, I haven't run across what you have but don't buy my valves from Deere. It's possible your valve skipped one of the machine processes when being made or someone modified your old one to take a standard hardware Ferrell. Sure wish you could E-Mail me a digital picture of the new valve.
