I finally got this tractor running and now I find when I use the backhoe that the Hyd are not powerful enough to pick up a bucket of dirt. I have sent for a manual but will not see it for a couple of weeks. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Joe There is also a screen behind a plug on the left side of the trans housing. This is the pickup point for the transmission pump which pumps low pressure oil to the main pump. If the brakes are going back, this material could clog this screen or the filters. If the trans pump is clogged or the pump is bad, it will not supply enough oil to the main pump. The stroke control valve controls the pressure in the hydralic system and has to be screwed in to increase pressure. The only way to do it correctly is to have a pressure guauge plumbed into the system and screw in until you get the correct pressure reading, Which I think is 2450 LBS. I had a 310 and had lots of trouble with the hydralic system. Hope this helps. Lloyd

Did you change the filter on the right side of the tractor beside the trans, also if the loader is weak check the hyd. pump destroke screw on the hydraulic pump (back screw out until resistance is felt).

Thanks for the comeback Mark. Can you describe to me what the destroke screw looks like and where its located on the pump? I removed the horz filter and the trans filter, the local parts store will have them first thing in the morning. Thanks.

The stroke control screw is located on top of the hyd. pump. Its about 5\16 in diameter with a pin going thru the top of it {looks like a T}. Make sure this is backed out. The purpose of this is to destroke {turn off} the pump to aid in cold weather starting, you turn it all the way in until resistance is felt, start the tractor then back it all the way out. There is an off chance that an electric destroke valve could have been added {small round solenoid with a wire going to it}in the same place as the manual valve.

on my 410 JD, it is on the left side of the machine, on the hydraullic pump, toward the front of the pump, as sitting on the machine. It looks like a bolt sticking out. It should be all the way out for the hydraulics to work. Not sure what does. If you find out, let me know...Emery
