joe, Like Clooney said check the spring under the lever and make sure there isn't coils broke. If the spring looks normal and there is no coils broken what happens to mine is I will lubricate the lever because it moves to hard and later as the lubricant (pentatrating oil) works down in the lever socket the lever will no longer hold its set position. To correct this problem I just spray a little brake clean (parts cleaner in an aerosol can) in the lever socket joint to work some of the oil from it and you will be back in business. If you get caught in the rain like I do going to tractor pulls this is a pretty common problem as they will rust to where you can't move them and when you oil them they become so loose the lever will not stay in position. Good luck you will figure it out. Dave W.

Joe, the usual cause of the throttle not staying put in your S/N range is a broken or weak spring that is on the rod just under the throttle handle. Look closely at the spring & you will probably see it is broken in the center somewhere. To be sure you will probably have to remove the spring to check it. If it isn't broken you can either replace it or shim it to more tension with washers.
