I quit farming in fall 1965 and sold all my equipment at an auction sale on Jan. 4, 1966. I sold my 720D, pony, wide front, 3pt, ps, comfort seat and was just newly repainted. Had those "wavey" Goodyear tires on rear. Sold for $1450. I believe. Had to sell because I couldn't make it farming and now I long for my old tractor back again and wonder if it was junked later or is one of the nice photos I see on this page. The sale was about 10miles northwest of Kress, Texas or about 12 miles east of Hart and about 3miles northwest of Center Plains. I think a man from Lubbock bought it. I don't know the serial number, never had any reason to know it. It was a great tractor and did every thing I asked of it. I read these stories about how people have tracked their tractors down, but this is so long ago and since the buyer was about 60 or 70 miles away I don't how to go about the search. Guess I will have to just buy one like it, but would sure like to have my old friend. The last time I drove it I was crying and praying, not knowing what was going to happen to me and my young family; where I was going and wondering if I could find a job. I'm happy to say he took care of me. Can't complain, but I have so many memories that I had from that time that include that tractor.

I still think there would be enough interest to create a space just for this purpose. Then, once in a while, a fella could print out the posting and take it with him when he went to a show or salvage yard after parts or a swap meet and keep his eyes open. Sure would help a lot of people searching for that special family tractor. rickm

Same boat your in. My dads 730 diesel wf electric start sold 85 at auction. The only thing we remember was the town the buyer was from. Here in my neck of the woods, most farmers know each other and the kind of equipment each uses and even past history. My thought was to go to this town and find the local resteraunt that the locals hang out and advertise . Post messages and even ask around. This is good detective work. And you might be surprised at how lucky you might turn out.

Hi John,
Sorry I can't help find your tractor, but I just had to reply anyway. There aren't many of us Texas Panhandle boys on here. The only other one I see here, on a regular basis, is Shorty Dear up in Perryton. He deals in used Deeres so he might have some contacts from your part of the country, or he might have a tractor like yours for sale.
By the way, I'm in Dalhart.
Good luck in your search.

John read your post and the love of a machine I beleive is as great as the love for an animal, there has to be something distinct about the tractor a change or modification you made making it easier for you to identify so go find it and good luck. This would make a great story tracking it down, and make a great family adventure so let us know here on the board. Good luck Gman

Thank you all for responding, I feel encouraged to try locating the tractor. I'm going to contact the Farmers Home Administration; they were loaning me money at the time. Maybe they will still have some old records. If that doesn't work, I'll bet they recorded a lein when they paid for the tractor and the court house would still have this record. If I can get the serial number I can continue the search. I'll record my serial numbers from now on.
