Help!!! i have a 46 B and i have a question. my tractor seems to have poor power. I bought new spark plugs, took the old plugs out and the left plug looked new. the inside was white and the right plug was black, like normal. What is going on?

Joe: Have you checked for mud dobber wasp nest in your air cleaner? They got in my B and it would not run worth a darn.Pull you oil bath off and if it run better with it off, then you have restriction ( mud dobber nest ) my two cents good luck

Pull the plug wires one at a time, will it run on 1 cyl.? Maybe the load screw need's opened up.Is the mag timed correctly? just a thought. Don

No power compared to what? Did it have power and suddenly lose it or did you just buy this tractor and expect it to perform like a D-9? An over abundance of power is not a B's claim to fame.

It sounds as though it is starving for fuel, does it sit outside uncovered? Maybe it got some water in the fuel system, try some dry gas. I had the same problem and it turned out that a small amount of water was the culprit, it liked to drove me crazy. Just a thought. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

Joe, pull the L/H plug back out & see if you have any compression on that cylinder. Maybe you have a broken rocker arm or bad push rod on the L/H intake valve. Are you getting any spark at the L/H plug wire?

I assume you've got the new plugs in and it still has poor power. Is it hitting on both sides? Consistently? Sounds like an ignition problem. Check the ignition timing. Make sure the plug wires are seated in the distributor cap. Post back.

Try pulling one plug wire off at a time while the engine's running at about 1/3 throttle. If you can't tell the difference, or if it quits with one of the wires off, you have an ignition problem. If it tries to struggle on with either of the wires off, you likely have a fuel/air/mixture problem.
