I was just wondering if the cam grind of an A John Deere is the same as a 630 John Deere? Also will the 630 cam fit in an A?
Thanks
Jeremy

Jeremy, I'm a restorer & not a puller so haven't ever tried to install the 630 cam in an A..

~I have heard of it being done but not sure what's involved in doing that or the gain that would be seen.. Personally if I was looking for a better cam I would have my stock cam re-ground by a reputable cam grinder as that would get me EXACTLY what I needed for my compression, carburetion, & engine usage..

~You might take your question to the YT puller board,, or E-Mail Mike Alward [he's a puller that posts on this board]..

~Maybe someone that has researched that cam swap can chime it here & help you...

~If you are looking for some reading on cams just go to the YT tractor pulling board & put the word CAMSHAFT in the search box at the top, or put that same word in the search box on this board & switch the search area to tractor pulling board.. About 141 readings....

I think the cam timing is the same for the 60, A, and 620, 630....not any advantage there..!!

They improved the timing on the Gas 720...and it won't fit...!!
