We have a JD B that has a tendency to fill up the cylinders with gasoline if you leave the fuel on. Somebody got the bright idea to take the spark plugs out to air her out. He decided it would go faster if you turned the engine over a couple of times. She went up in flames real fast! Luckily a fire extinquisher was nearby and no real damage occured. Be careful with spark and gas.

i agree with wendell that it's probably just unburnt fuel/air mixture coming out. as far as the spark plug advice, unless you're from his part of minnesota, you might want to think twice.

by opening the petcocks, you reduced the compression thus reducing the combustability of the feul in the cylinder chambers. The higher the compression the cleaner the feul will burn. Next time you're experimenting, I suggest that you try pulling of the spark plug wires while the tractor is running, please let us know what happens.

Wendel, do you want him to be sure to stand in some WATER, while pulling the plug wires.??? WOW....!!!!! !!!!!

Made ME Studder...!!!!!

Also...notice that the Clutch-side cylinder seldom fires with the petcocks open-idleing...!!

Neighbor's brother-in-law (Bob) told me that several years back he was visiting a guy he worked with who had an old 2 cylinder. Well, while Bob was relieving himself, the other guy took the spark plug wire from the running tractor and touched it on Bob's ear. Bob said he liked to have died. He was out of work for 2 weeks (for which the other guy had to pay him) and his testicles swelled up bigger than cantelopes. I guess this guy had a tendency of playing stupid jokes on people. His wife told Bob that she made it clear to him that if he ever did anything so stupid ever again, she would kill him.

I wwas working in a JD shop once when a guy brought in a baler hooked to a B. We worked on the baler then had trouble restarting the tractor. This guy pulled the spark plug wife off one side and held it while cranking and said he didn't think the spark was hot enough. Never wanted to do that myself but at least there is no hood to jump back ahd hit your head against

Sounds rather unbelievable, but there was a neighbor kid up in Indiana in the '50s that once pee'd on a JD spark plug on a dare - he wished he hadn't!! Stranger things have happened.

if you pull the plug wire out of the magneto, then you are holding a dead wire. if you pull the spark plug wire off the spark plug while the engine is running then you are holding a wire with 30,000 volts in it looking for a path to ground. i did it "one" time.-----a couple of hired hands were goofing around at the machine shop of the farmer they worked for, one of the hands was very afraid of snakes and the other knew it and was teasing him with a dead chicken snake. the hand who was afraid took off out of the shop on a john deere without a cab but a large tractor. as he left the shop, the other hand threw the snake at him and hit him around the neck. the snake was better than 7 ft. long and wrapped itself around the drivers neck. the driver freaked and drove the tractor into a large pole and totaled the front end of the tractor. the farmer made them both pay for the repair of the tractor.
