Can someone tell me what type of oil I need to put in my JD 50 to work the back hydraulic unit?

Thanks.

I use regular 10w-30 in my JD50 with no problems.

Mr. Smith

The Manual for my 730D and my 70g stipulate SAE 30 for 90*+ temperatures, 20-20W for 32*-90* and sae 10W below freezing, but you can also use good old HYGARD---just like what's in most of your newer JDs. These old hydraulic systems just don't care what you put in them and will work on either. I use HY-Gard because it's what I use in my 4020 and 3020 and I can use the same hydraulic cylinders on all of my equipment. If I want to disc with the 730D or the 70, I don't have to switch cylinders.

been using deere's hydraulic fluid for years in my 49 A, 48 B. it's what they recommended, and it's been fine, hot or cold, easy or hard use. i figure they ought to know.

John:

My manual for my 70D, as well as my '48 "A" said to add oil of the same weight and grade that you ran in the engine.

A lot of the folks say they use non-detergent in the Pow-R-Trol because they claim it foams less.
