Joe,
My brake linings came in a box with the tractor when I bought it, which was good, because I have heard they are getting expensive. I learned this tip from Clooney, which worked very well for me:
Use a transfer punch (5/16) I believe to set the rivets. Just back the head of the rivet up with a small socket or whatever, and tap on the open end of the rivet with a hammer and the punch. It really worked well, (once I found out what a transfer punch was.) A word of warning, those pads are kind of delicate, so be careful handling them. Hope this helps.
Gary

Joe, I always just take them to my local tool and heavy equip shop and have new linings installed. Always done a good job for me also you can do them yourself get some banding and rivets and have fun .

I just bought a set at my local JD dealer for my 39B. The rivets came with the pads. I drilled out the old rivets, cleaned and painted the metal and installed the new pads. I used a punch to start the rivets and my bench vise with a nut behind the rivet head to finish compressing the rivets.
