I have about come to the conclusion that no one's left in Arkansas who can bore a 2-cyl block! I know a CIH Service Mgr who referred me to his machinist in Little Rock (a real HD diesel shop), only to find out his "NEW" lathe won't bore out a block with over a 12" stroke. I need to resleeve this block because of severe pitting, since the former owner left it setting without sparkplugs in it for at least 6 or 7 years(lot of good the can did over the exhaust!LOL). Called at least 2 other shops and heard the same story. Anybody got any out of state solutions, the closer the better. I'd drive 250 miles to get it somewhere where they know what there're doing!

There is a machine shop in Goreville Illinois that says that they have the capability of sleeving all JD 2 cylinder blocks. When I was in there this week, they had a block and head from a 70. They are a small shop that services farm equipment, trucks and cars. They also have a NAPA franchise.
Call 618-995-2296 & ask for Scott. He can tell you what the shop capabilities and schedule are.

Good Luck

Britt

The location of Goreville Machine, mentioned in the preceeding post is as follows:

Take exit 40 from Interstate 57. Go East about five miles to stop sign. Turn right on Illinois Route 37. Goreville Machine/NAPA is on left, about 1 block.

From I-24:

Take exit 7 from Interstate 24. Go West to Illinois route 37. Turn right (North) go about a mile into town. Goreville Machine/NAPA will be on your right.

Hope you find someone close. Freigth is expencive. We had our 430 sleved back to factory 3 years ago. And our main 730 Diesel is in the John Deere dealers shop now getting sleved back to factory. Our local John Deere dealer at Westby works with a local machine shop that does the boiling out of the block and puts the new sleves in, but the boring is done at a place in La Crosse Wisc. If you come up dry, contact me at hanleyranch@yahoo.com
