My J.D. 60 has a square tube Deere wide front end.I want to set the wheels out but the adjustable round piece is seized inside the square tube section.I have tried heating it and then putting a pin thru one of the adjusting holes that is outside the square then pounding it up and down to try and loosen it ,but no success.I don't want to pound on the square section because it is cast.I've also tried soaking the area where round goes into square with oil,no luck. Also when heating it I can get it hot but not red hot, there is a lot of material in that square cast section to heat.I'm open to suggestions

We had a round tube that took forever to move.. We had a 20Ton jack on the inside of the housing... We gave up on the torch... we used a fish fryer.. and layed the axle housing over it untill it turned red hot.. we still had to to beat on the knee. (the part that goes down) to get the part to move.. it took about a week to get the first one.. a few days for the second... but just a jack wasn't enough.. just be carefull beating on the knee.. you will cave in the tube.. we had to weld one back up.. but its the inside that you have to becareful.. too much beating, and the spindle won't go back in... Good luck

Keep soaking it the best you can. Heat works well but as you said there is a bunch of metal to get warm. I like PB Blaster + heat. You are correct don't beat hard on the cast. If you know someone who has a Porta Power, put a little pressure on while heating. One can do alot with a porta power, but don't over do, use a smaller unit.RLA
