I have a little issue with this tractor I used to use all the time but haven't needed to use it for a year now. I have replaced the oil pressure cast piece and the canister for the filter. When I did get it to run again, I still don't show quite enough pressure even after adjusting the screw as much as I could. Clooney mentioned there being several causes for low pressure. I need to get some more info to decide how to resolve this. I haven't cleaned the screen to the oil pump that I remember at least so will do that first. Is there an easy way to know without plastigauge if the rods or mains are the cause for the pressure problem? Is it a deal where I need to run the motor with crank cover off and see? I don't have a master oil guage to tell exactly how many pounds I have. I just don't want to ruin what i have left of a tractor and don't want to overhaul the motor only to ruin a good overhaul for a problem I never fixed through the overhaul. I felt the oil lines for a break and didn't feel anything odd. Thanks for your help.

Jerry, you could have a problem with the small spring that holds the baffle down or I have seen the baffle break also.

I believe this spring is good because I just had to replace all that when I repaired the filter canister. I imagine the problem has to do with either the rod clearance, main bearing clearance, or some other out of spec problem. I just don't know if I can tell what the problem is by watching the motor in motion with the crankcase cover off or if I will just sling oil all over the place. I wish there were a way to drive the oil pump with a drill like a car motor.
