First let me thank all who helped with my post on air filter removal and fluid levels. When I removed the oil filter all of the springs and washers were missing. I felt inside the cover hole before taking it out and the filter was resting on the bottom of the cover. I know it has been this way for at least 3 years because my dad owned it. I don't think it can filter the oil this way but will this cause any damage to the engine such as from low oil pressure? I'm not sure the gauge is right. Does JD still sell these parts or will I need to go to a salvage yard. I looked at a diagram of a "B". Are the "A" parts the same? Serial # 567742. Thanks for any help.

You should be able to get all the parts from deere, also a salvage yard tractor will work as long as it's not the early brass metal filter. Most of the tractors we have aquired seen to be
missing one part or another for the oil filter
cover. Also GL-1 should be fine

One more question. Can I use GL1 gear oil or do I need a high pressure oil like GL5? Thanks
