Jerry, the governor on H's are lubricated by the engine oil from both splashing from the rotating engine parts as well as pressurized oil leading to critical governor parts. No other lubrication is required. The transmission and differential lube level is checked by removing a pipe plug in the main case located behind and below the flywheel, a few inches above the bottom of the main case. The old manuals recommended 2-3/4 gallons of either SAE 140 or SAE 90 transmission oil to bring the level to that of the plug. Clooney, who is in a position to know these things, suggests that today, one may use 90W or 140W GL-3, 4 or 5, depending on outside temperature. However, you should first try to drain a little from your transmission. It is very common for H's to swallow a lot of water through the shifter cavity into the transmission housing, if the tractor has ever been left outside in the weather. If you find any water, you should take appropriate action by draining everything and flushing the case.
