Mine was like that. I replaced the leather washer on the piston and the mentioned gasket. Works fine. Parts are cheap from JD takes some time to tear down and reassemble but I enjoyed doing it and just standard tools are required. It would be labor expensive to pay someone to do it. You do not need an engineering degree to do this but the parts book would help you a lot and the I&T manual.

As far as I know, the bolt pattern for powerlift and powertrol are the same for the A, B, G, 50, 60, and 70. I am assuming that you are refering to the "box" and not the rockshaft itself. I would think that a working one from any of those models, out of a salvage yard would be a cost effective alternative to rebuilding. There was an early powertrol which had different hose plugs than did the better, later version, but they still used the same bolt pattern.

It's probably not the power trol or lift but the piston/cylinder in the rock shaft housing. Either the "cup" (which doubles as a piston ring) is bad or the gasket between the cylinder and the housing is blown. Not a fun job so it might be expensive if you farm it out.
