Eccentric Bushing STEERING HELP!!

My Steering is lose on my 39 B 1/4- 1/2 turn of nothing and i got the nose cone off and the whole shaft move forward and backward when i turn the wheel!! I was told i need to replacde the eccentric bushing . ANyone know for sure or has anyone replaced this what do i do and how hard is it or is it worth doing????? thanks

on my 51 g the tires wobbled/i removed the sector
gear(one atop vertical steering post) and placed
a couple shims under/to move the wear spots on
the two gear to different spot/worked like a charm

Which shaft moves forward and backward? the verticle one or the one fastened to the steering wheel. If its the one fastened to the steering wheel then replace or adjust the two bearings on either side of the worm gear before you get involved with the eccentric bushing, it could be that the eccentric bushing would do its thing if the other bearings were set up correctly

How do you adjust the two bearings on ech side of the worm????? ? thanks for helping!!!

Some times the bearings they need replaced if worn a lot, but on the front cap with the 3 bolts you should find gasket shims if someone hasn't already removed them

I just turned the big nut after pulling the lock pin out. and the steering tightened right up. Is this all i needed to DO????
