Can anyone help with the difference between the 1020 and the 1120? I have been told the 1120 is the same except it was made in Germany, I have also been told the only difference is the 1020 is gas and the 1120 is diesel. Does anybody know the story? thanks

I have a 1120 diesel and I love it. I have had very few problems with it. My book says a 1020 has 40 PTO HP/48 flywheel HP and the 1120 has 45 PTO HP/53 flywheel HP. The technical manual and the operator manual are the same for both of these tractors. These manuals also include the 1630 (a little more horse power) so it must be almost the same too. Hope this helps.

The 1020 is a Dubuque, Iowa mfgr JD offering. The JD 1120/1130, although essentially the same JD tractor is imported for the Canadian Ag market.

Invest in a metric set of tools and be sure to get the JD 1120/1130 PC and SM. There are enough differences, regarding parts particularly, that make the investment in the catalog and manuals a must.
