It has no muffler. All screws are loose. Do i need to remove the whole steering rod from the front pedistal and pull that out...then pull metal off or what. it is probably much easier than it seems but i am not doing good. Thanks sooo much!!! Please Help the best you can

Hey 39B, You do have to remove the steering rod to get the gas tank off.(Is this what you are having a question about?) You should get a maintenance manual if you are going far but I'll try to give you some info. Remove the nose cover, front grills, steering wheel and then slip the steering rod thru the front pedestal. Don't drop the bearings. Disconnect gas lines, choke and radiator shutter rods and gas tank support bolts and you should be able to lift off gas tank.I may have missed something but come back if it does't go right. Easy

Yes you will have to pull the stearing rod from the front pedstal. Then you have to unhook the gas lines. Then you can lift the hood and gas tank off.
Good luck Gary
