First and foremost, obtain service, parts and operators manuals for your tractor. Then go from there. You will gain more info and knowledge from those three books than from anywhere else - including this board. As far as parts go, you shouldn't have any trouble procuring anything you need. A lot (probably anything) you need to purchase new can be supplied by your John Deere dealer. If you find OEM parts to be too pricey, try places like Abilene Machine, etc for good quality used or rebuilt parts. Keep in mind, however, that if you purchase at least some parts from your dealer, they will probably be more than happy to help you out with any questions you have about repairing your tractor. Even if you don't buy parts, they will probably still be helpful, though. As a JD tech, all I can say is that our time is worth money - and nobody likes to have either one wasted, but it's a different story if you have spent some money in the parts department to boot. As far as decals, I would check with Jordes of K & K, although I don't know if they have decals for New Generation tractors for sure. A local farm tire store should be able to take care of all of your tire needs - they might even be able to find you some decent used ones, if you don't want to drop the big money for new right away. New tires are only new for one turn of the wheel. After that, good used ones will do just fine - unless you want a full-on show tractor. Used tires actually pull better in a lot of circumstances, because the shorter bars flex less and deliver the power more effectively. Anyway, I hope this gives you some starting points - good luck with your 4020.
