I recently perchased a 52 B and want to set the stop on the throttle lever for 1250 RPM but I dont know how to find out what the RPM is. Any ideas on how I can find out.

Ray, you can come close with a stop watch. Your B should go a mile in 360 seconds in sixth gear. If you have mile-grids, pick a north-south road. The east-west roads have error as the longitudinal lines move closer together toward the north side of a county. Another method is to stick 3 pie shaped pieces of colored paper (3 colors) to the pulley cover & watch it at night with a 60 Hz trouble light, it will "strob" at 1200 RPM.

Your best bet is going to be to find some kind of handheld tachometer - either digital or analog. Read the RPM right off the end of the belt pulley. There are also various types of inductive pick-up tachs that can read off of a plug wire, but I have found these to be fairly jumpy when using them on two-cylinders. Your local auto parts store can probably also get you a digital tach to hook up permanently to your tractor - it will probably read off of the coil, although I don't have any experience with these. Make sure your tractor is at full operating temp when you set the RPM.
