Well, The John Deere parts counter cannot support the famous model G anymore! They tell me these main bearings are no longer available. I need NEW AF 1283R and AF1284R. Dennis Polk and Dengler cannot help either. Hopefully somebody here knows of a parts source or has a set of these that they may part with. Or does anyone know where I can get bearings repoured???

Jim, Get your self signed up to John deere's on line parts site (jdparts.deere.com)and if your part prices, "Deere" should have it and you will know what to expect price wise. This will not apply to "no longer furnished" or old stock parts no longer made.

You're being fed a line, at least as far as Deere goes. They are still available from John Deere, although they're not cheap. - $73.00 for the AF1283R, and $97.00 for the AF1284R. I had one of our parts guys check on availabity of the AF1283R, and Kansas City has a quantity of 1, while Milan, IL has a quantity of 137, so there are plenty out there. I didn't check on the AF1284R, but quantities should be similar. We're getting into a situation where a lot of dealers and parts guys don't want to screw around with two-cylinder and other older parts. Fortunately, we don't fall into that category. We keep our two-cylinder parts books right at the front counter, and they're also on EPC. Go back to your dealer and tell them to look a little harder, or you'll find one that will.

I hear of this same problem in my area. Dealer tells someone can't get it, I call my dealer and
at the touch of a button they sub the number or check the locator. Deere still has one of the best parts networks going if not the best. I guess some dealers just don't want to pay for the best helpers ?

Thanks guys, I called another dealer in the area and a set should show up in the brown truck Monday. Thanks again, I guess the first dealer I went to does not need my business!!!
