I have a 1966 JD 400 backhoe diesel. I have been told that a tank heater would be good for cold weather starting. It came with a starting fluid adapter, which I am not comfortable with. Iam not sure how to hook up the tank heater, the left side of the block has a pepcock valve on it, but no other points of entry that I can see for the other heater hose. I was told not to hook the heater to the long cab heater hoses, because the tank heater wasn't made to circulate water that far. If someone has done this with a tractor like mine, or has another idea, I would appreciate the help. Thank you---Ed

As I recall half of those engines had a pipe plug in the thermostat housing. If so, remove the plug and put in a hose adapter. If it doesn't have one remove the housing and drill and tap it.
