How much more power is given with .9 oversize pistons in an unstyled G. What is the maximum. I am looking at unstyled G with .9 oversize pistion and want to be able to use this tractor for plowing. I t wont overheat will it. When do you get to the point where you can no longer over haul an engine thank you all

Gquestion, are you sure the "G" tractor you were looking at had .9" [ 9/10's of an inch, that is just under an inch]. Maybe they were trying to tell you it had .090" [that's ninety thousands of an inch]
~.9" wouldn't fit & if somehow thay could be intalled with wet sleeves it wouldn't ever be a plow tractor.....

I have a 52 with cast pistons .090 over and a 53 with aluminum pistons(don,t know the bore)and sound wise the 52 sounds better and runs smoother but the 53 with aluminum pistons has 11 more horses on the dyno.Hope this helps.

HP is difficult to predict exactly. Going from cast standard pistons to an aluminum .090 may gain you 6-8hp +/- a couple hp. From a collectors stand point, I wouldn't work about it. Most tractors have had a rebuild during its lifetime. If you have everything else stock, you can't tell by looking or listening to the tractor what pistons may be in it. Put a big stroke/bore and you can definitely hear the difference.

The power increase will be from improved mechanical efficiency from the higher compresison aluminium gas piston's expansion ratio. Also from a reduction of blowby from restoring the ring/bore seal. The extra airflow from boring 90 thou over is insignificant. Oversize valves, valve bowl blending, gas manifold, aircleaner work & a cam will perk her up a few more HP.
