Just ordered a Deere rebuild kit for my 530 gas.(ser. # 5300042). Tractor tends to stumble under load and no adjustment short of slightly choking it seems to help. Before I jump into it I figure I better ask. Is this an easy rebuild or should I send it out? If I do it myself can anyone help me with the float adjustment setting?

A quick fix on rust scale in you tank is to place some permanet magnets on the outside of the bottom side of your fuel tank close to the area of the fillcap so after you run around awhile and the tank gets empty . You can vaccum it out.Pull magnets first. It works good .I didn't think of it. An older gentleman tractor mechanic told me.Earl

I've rebuilt several of these. The main jets are hard to remove as they screw in and they are not available from JD. I would recommend Robert's carburator if you send out.

John, as far as being easy to overhaul, none of those Duplex carbs are easy if the internal passages are plugged with rust or gum.
~If just disassembling to install new gaskets & clean the easily accessible interior parts, they are pretty simple.
~Probably the best place to start is to make sure you have a good fuel flow to & through the carb, [pull the bottom drain plug & hold the knurled knob in on the strainer assembly & make sure you have a pencil sized stream of fuel for at least 30 seconds, if not find & repair that problem first].
~If the fuel flow is good I would look for plugged air bleed holes in the sides of the nozzles, that will cause a stumble under light load or throttle movement.
~I don’t have the float setting in front of me at this moment but I usually just set the float to have the top parallel with the bowl gasket surface on the main casting with the carb inverted.....

John, Have you checked the inlet to the sediment bowl assembly. My 620 was doing the same thing. The inlet had tiny rust flakes packed inside the opening.

Sorry, I can't help on the carb.
