I just wanted to make a note here for you that when you go to get new seals for your axles, see if you can find a double lipped axle seals. I have a '41 B that I just installed new bearings and seals in. I was going to put what JD called for, but then a mechanic told me to look for double lipped seals and I found some at a bearing company here in Des Moines, Iowa. They just give you two times the sealing surface than a standard single lipped seal does.

36-A, your 36's have an outer felt DUST/DIRT seal that only keeps the dirt out of the outer bearing. They have inner oil seals [just outside the inner axle bearings] that keeps the oil in.
~You sure asked me a difficult question on that axle swap...Here's what I know on that [not much as I'm not a puller]...There was an axle change from 10 to 12 splines in mid to late 1937, with that axle change the axle bearings were changed. I have installed the 12 spline in the 10 spline axle housings using a mismatch of bearings/races from Deere [sorry I don't have the numbers as I did the change years ago], I believe the seals are different also, so you will have to measure the housing bore & axle O.D. at the seal area & match them up, [or if just re-sealing, use the numbers on the old seals]. ~I don't know what is involved with the 12 to 15 swap as I don't know what rear axle housings you are working with. ~Your question would be a good question for the puller board on YT here. Those guys are always swapping axle housings, axles & hubs.
~Be very careful when removing the outer felt retainers [I usually push them out at the same time as the axles come out by using the inner axle nuts against a steel plate to push the axles out, & lightly tapping around the back of retainers with a block of hard wood]. Those retainers are getting hard to come by..... ....
