1947 AR OIL?

Boy this is embarrasing. I found where to put the oil into the engine but can't find the dip-stick.
So can any one tell me how you know the right amount? I suspect there may be a level plug somewhere. Thanks Heaps - Kiwi Jeff

I've never worked on an AR, but I believe the oil checking procedure is the same for an "A". On an "A", there is no dipstick, but there is an oil test cock located a few inches below the belt pulley. It has a hex head. Unscrew it a few turns and it will expose a hole for the oil to over flow out when the correct level is reached. So, open it, start adding oil, and when it starts to run out, tighten it up.

Hope that's the way an AR works. Pretty sure it is.
