I don't know any thing about Mags. When I took this D apart 14 months ago the mag worked fine and it was sold to me as Rebuilt. Does it have to be a clean finish under the mag for a good ground? I have no spark now at all. Is it the paint. ? Have I lost Ground? I have new wires and have tried the old ones too. The mag does have a good snap to it when it hits LH impulse , Just No spark at all. thanks Marty Z

Mary, send me another picture. I'm glad to here you got it all done. After filing the points, make sure the contacts where the wires plug in are also clean. They are probably corroded also.

Marty, the usual cause of no spark in a mag that worked before a storage time period is oxidized points, followed by rust on the rotor [the magnetic rotor not the distributor rotor].
~What brand & type mag are you using?
~Try cleaning the points, & if that doesn't get you a spark post back with the mag brand & type..

Not sure where you live but could it be that some rusting has happened over the 14 months to the points?
