The radiator shop said the core in the A was no good and wanted about $350 to fix me up with a new one. I wouldn't normally even think about it except this radiator hooks to a water pump. I asked him about changing bottom tanks with another A radiator but he didn't believe another old core would be easy to reseal. Would any of you have some sources for the cores that are more reasonable? I haven't done radiators myself before but is changing a core something I could figure out or does it take talent with torches and such?

Jerry
Steve & Clyde have good info for sources, as far as installing the new one it's all bolted together so there's no welding/soldering involved. Good luck Mike

Jerry:
I recently purchaed a radiator core for both an unstyled and styled A. I thought I had paid far less then $350.00 for them. I took a look back and found I had paid about $175 for th U/S core and $225 for the styled. As far as sealing, Just use good gaskets (from you local JD dealer) and a little Permatex form-a-gasket(B-2) and all will be OK.. you should be able to do this yourself and save lots of $$'s. I got my cores from Sharps body shop. Email Melanie and she will get you firm prices. Her Email is info@oldjd4u.com. Hope this helps..

Your local JD dealer should be able to get A&I aftermarket cores for about half that price. They are made by Clancy Radiators in Ireland, and are usually 3 core instead of 4. work fine in all ive done
