thanks for the update. steve all you need to build a splitting frame is 4 4 foot pieces of 4 inch pipe. put 6 inch caster wheels on the bottum of each pipe. then just bolt it to the frame. good luck

Check out Green Magazine. They are an excellent magazine for lovers of the green. They are on the web, GreenMagazineOnline.com. This month's has two 5020's but the 5010's are harder to find. The 5010 ia a real beast. I havent heard of any special weak points they had. In 1963, they were adapted to earthmoving with an elevating scraper added, this evolved into the JD760 scraper circa 1965 when the 5020 came out. I have a brochure showing the 5010 scraper. Good luck, hope this helps

5010's had a bad habbet of cracking heads. If your going to show it or use it lightly,it would be ok after the rebuild. Don't put a turbo on it,that was the death of a lot of 5010 or 20's. Rebuild kits for the 531 are kind of pricey too. Then you need a splitting stand and a big hoist or lift to pull the engine. This is my problem with my 5020,I need to pull the engine but don't have the stand or hoist to do it yet. Good luck, Steve
