110 hydro

there is a lever on the side of my 72 110, is that a hydro lever? because i saw a 140 and that was a hydro lever. who makes my transmission? also my engine is making this knocking sound, the higher i rev the engine the louder it gets and the longer i run it the worse it gets it has been doing this for about 3 weeks it is very loud now, is this bad?

Your 110 is probably a 4speed vero drive. Is the engine full of oil if it is and the knocking gets louder when the engine gets hot the connecting is more than lickley worn and should be replaced asap. Be sure to have the crankshaft checked by a reputable machine shop !
