Around my area in Kansas, if you can get an unstyled D in running conditions for under $2,500, you did good. The D's were very popular for a plowing tractor in Kansas. Whenever there is a farm sale, the trucks and trailers from various states show up and the competition gets fierce. Check the serial number and see if it is a "Depression D" (some of 1931 through 1934). The tractor is worth considerably more in this time frame since not too many were built.

Good Luck!

There is alot of unanswered questions, D's were made from 1923 to 1953 you will realy need to find out the year.

Since I wont be going by for a few dyas,I looked in the photos and the closest thing I found was a 1938.it is what I consider "unstlyed",but I dont know too awful much about John deeres,my blood runs "red".Just thinking I might expand myself a little and add something different in the barn. When did the styling change?

Deere styled the D in 1939. the styled seem to be quite popular. the 38's are not rare, but it would make a nice addition to any collection. is it on steel wheels, cut downs, or cast rears and pressed steel front? factory wheels will help the value. personally, in unrestored running condition, I would advise not to put more than $1500 into it. because as you know, its not cheap to restore anymore. you also have to consider if it needs new fenders and a hood, you could have several hundred in just those.

Thank you Dwayne!I now know its at least a 38 or older.Like I said before I really didnt get the chance to look at it,just noticed it was for sale and now sports a new paint job and it looks real good from the road but its about 50 yrd from the road so I dont know if he just shot the paint or what.I know it was running as little as 4 months ago as I saw the guy using it in his garden.Might just make the extra trip over there after work tomorrow.
