I need a pony engine or electric start kit. Which one should I go with? where can I find one?

If you're looking for originality, you have to go with the cranking engine, as that was the only starting system 70Ds came with. If you're looking for a little more convenient and possible cheaper alternative, you might want electric start. I believe there are companies advertising the brackets in Green Magazine, so you may want to look in there. There is nothing wrong with the pony engines and they will work very well, provided that they are properly installed, maintained and operated. I do happen to know of a few 70Ds in salvage yards that still have pony engines on them, so email me if you're interested. I think there are a total of three, so one of them should have a rebuildable engine on it. I could check them out for you.
