About three months ago I had to buy an MT to get some equipment I wanted and didn't think much of the tractor. It hadn't been run in four or five years; probably more like eight years. Seat was gone, huge play in steering, bailing wire holding the steering wheel in, muffler in pieces.

I've been looking at the tractor off and on since then thinking that it looked more like a tractor than I had originally thought. I wondered if it would run. Pulled it and it started. I serviced it and hooked onto a drag 6 foot tandem disc in sandy land and that little tractor pulled the disc real well. I hate trying to get on and off it, but I am really liking that little tractor and have gotten used to the motor running as fast as it does. I think I am going to love this tractor and am planning to restore it.

If the rod is like the 40, seems it would be easy enough to buy a streight rod at hardware store, bend it, and thread one end for a knob of some kind. Just a thought.

I have had a MT for about 15 years. Have done almost nothing to it over that time though it had a stuck valve when I got it and had to pull the head to fix that. Mine had to have a new seat and backrest also. It surprises me how much it will pull. I have the touch control lift on the back, if you lift anything very heavy the front comes off the ground. It starts any time of the year on it's 6 volt system and will handle most small chores better than any 8n thought of doing. It will turn on a dime and leave change. Only thing I've notice with mine that is a bit annoying is that the reverse is sooooo oo slow. If you fix it up a bit you will probably really like it. As far as getting on and off, my dad put a step on the one I have. He took some 1 1/4(I think) pipe, with some fittings it makes an L shape with an extra arm going off the top and hangs down about a foot below the left side deck. One end goes into the cultivator carrier and is clamped there. Can take it off to be original or on for easy on and off.

pulling on that rod in the winter without a knob can lead to foul language. If you find a rod, you can surely get a new knob at JD. I got one for a 420 there.
