Nozzle question

How does the nozzle spring affect the functioning of the carb as it pushes the nozzle up, where it (the nozzle) might already be stuck? I had read here that the nozzle must fall out if one takes the carb apart. This has been on my mind for two and half years now (at least).

Johan, all that spring does is hold the nozzle up so it seals against the counter bore it sits in. The spring pressure [as long as it is great enough to hold the nozzle up] has no effect on carb operation.
~Most nozzles stick in the bore with age & that has no effect on carb operation [as long as the nozzle holes are clean & the nozzle is all the way up as far as it can go].
~I think what you read is the nozzle CAN fall out on you if you take the carb apart. ~The only reason I can think of to have that nozzle loose & free in the bore is so it goes all the way in & is held there with the spring. If it stops short the metering will be off.....

Thank you very much Clooney for the answer. There is a pic of my "D" making a tight corner.
